Chris Kenny
Mount Gambier - South Australia - AUSTRALIA
Gear:
Ocean Culture
Chris got his start in sandboarding through the encouragement of Joanne
Harvy during a conversation. Sandboarding came up. Chris said, " I'd love
to give it a go." The rest is history.
"I'd always been keen on giving snow boarding
a try, and this seemed to be the closest thing available to me in this
area, due to the lack of snow in the Mount Gambier region"....lol. Chris tried for
months to get a chance to get on a board, but due to weather, work etc
didn't get his chance until much later. Now he goes as often as possible.
"I love it!" Although he's still very new to the sport his sandboarding days are
piling up! As long as the weather holds he'll be taking advantage of it. |

Chris loves to get air!

During the process of getting Joanne to make him a sand board, Chris had been
experimenting with all Jo's boards, ( Ocean Culture ) trying them all out to see which board
suits his style..."or lack of...he he" he's says. Chris loves to jump. Throwing
aerials is the extreme side of sandboarding. "My main aim
I guess is to be able to nail some large jumps...and remain upright."
Chris hopes to progress to some aerial tricks...180's etc..."all the snazzy
stuff that looks good and hurts when it isn't." At 6'2" Chris is no little kid
easily bouncing off the sand!
Now 29 years old, Chris is enjoying it all. Living at Mount Gambier Chris is
a busy man with many other interest as well.
Working Full-time as a storeman by day, part-time Video Editor by night.
Other sports Chris participates in are Basketball, hockey, mixed netball.
Interests: Females, rallying, paint ball, computers, video editing.
Australian Sandboarding has grown rapidly over the last few years thanks mainly
to enthusiast like Chris Kenny and Joanne Harvy.
Of course, have access to excellent beach dunes helps the effort. Unfortunately we've seen
a trend emerge from local authorities closing many dunes to sandboarding. It seem people are
always afraid of what they don't understand.
