With roots in Australian surf culture, Alex started a lifelong love affair with the board. Now, in 2001 he is just as dedicated as ever only snow, sand and wake have replaced the waves. Living the last 6 years at Nevada's north Lake Tahoe village of Incline Alex gets in a full season of snow boarding yet is only an hour and a half from the famous Sand Mountain in Fallon, Nevada. Wake boarding these last 3 years with 'Soul Mate' and Sand Master Jam 2000 champ, Cassie Butcher has only added to his skill level. Now, with 3 seasons of sandboarding under his belt as well, Alex can stand in the spot light with not only an NSL title but a 'Sand Mountain Open', 'Sand Master Jam Freestyle' and the coveted 'Xwest Huck Fest' titles too. |

Alex seems to be a combination of 'natural' and 'perfectionist' when it comes to sandboarding. His sense of balance as well as athletic ability made it more than easy to make the cross over to sandboarding. In fact the cross over was instantaneous. Alex rides with cool confidence and his control of the board makes one loose sight of the fact that the board is not a part of him. Alex, the board and the dune all seem to work together as one motion perhaps a trait carried over from his fluid surf back ground. |

Continually pushing himself to the limit shows the perfectionist side of this board master. Good isn't enough. Alex must reach further each time to grasp for his Best! "That's how you set world records" says Alex, "Don't shoot for the record, shoot for your very best". Alex has appeared in a number of publications and television segments sandboarding at Oregon's 'Sand Master Park', Sand Mountain and Dumont Dunes. "Honeyman Park in Oregon is one of my favorites". Alex likes the natural jumps and challenging chute at Honeyman. It's always a pleasure to ride with or watch Alex do his magic on the sand. His smile reveals not only his enjoyment of the ride but also his relaxed attitude of control. He's sure of himself and his ability. We're sure we're going to see higher standards of sandboarding set by this man, the King, Alex King.
